To provide energy to a country house or summer cottage, a home-made generator using wind energy may well be suitable. Structurally, it is a wheel with blades, a gearbox, a generator on a mast, a battery and an inverter. Having collected the necessary materials, proceed to the assembly of the structure.

Necessary

  • - generator 12V;
  • - rotor 1.5 m;
  • - 12V battery;
  • - metal bucket or barrel made of stainless steel or aluminum;
  • - relay;
  • - switch (button) 12V;
  • - voltmeter;
  • - a mast with a height of 1 to 10 m;
  • - wires;
  • - bolts;
  • - set of wrenches;
  • - drill with drills;
  • - screwdriver;
  • - wire cutters.

Instructions

Step 1

Get to know how a wind turbine works. Under the action of air currents on the blades, rotational energy is generated, transmitted through the rotor to the multiplier. The latter rotates an electric generator. Wind turbines can work individually or in combination (in groups).

Step 2

Select the type of generator (vertical or horizontal). The vertical wind turbine is easier to install, has higher efficiency and is easier to balance.

Step 3

Before making a wind generator, consider what its design will be. If possible, use a ready-made design as a sample, reproducing its main parameters.

Step 4

Find the right batteries. It is better to opt for hermetic, specially designed for the needs of alternative energy. The service life of such batteries is about 10 years, which will allow them to recoup their cost faster than conventional car batteries.

Step 5

Prepare a three-point concrete foundation for the generator mast, taking into account climatic and soil conditions. Install the mast about a week after pouring the concrete. It is advisable to provide for a system of stretch marks, which will increase the stability of the structure.

Step 6

Make a rotor with a pulley that will transmit motion. Select the rotor diameter based on the average annual wind speed in the area.

Step 7

Make four blades from an old metal barrel by cutting them out with metal scissors or a grinder and bending them to the sides. Bolt the converted barrel to the generator. The rotational speed of the wind generator will be set by the bending of the blades, which should be selected empirically.

Step 8

Connect the wires to the generator and assemble the structure. Attach the generator to the mast. Connect the generator to the circuit, connect the battery. Connect the load with wires. A generator assembled in this way will almost completely provide a small country house with energy.
