Regulatory documents on the preparation and holding of honey fairs in Moscow were prepared by Yuri Luzhkov on February 13, 2004 at the suggestion of the Russian National Union of Beekeepers. The former mayor provided the best exhibition grounds in the capital for these purposes on preferential terms. The RNSP provided funds for the annual fairs, and the Moscow authorities took over the coordination of their work and informed the population about the event.

Alexey Nemeryuk, who is the head of the department of services and trade in the capital, said that the decision to cancel honey fairs in Tsaritsyno and Manezh was due to objective reasons. The fact is that a completely new concept has been developed for the Manezh Central Exhibition Hall, which was prepared by the Moscow Department of Culture. There are no fair events in this plan. The center will become informational, educational and cultural, while trade is in no way suitable for these areas.

The execution of Sergei Sobyanin's order should be supervised by his deputy for economic policy, Andrei Sharonov. To unload the Tsaritsyn interchange, the trading floor will be converted into a guest parking. Various fairs created certain inconveniences for the implementation of these plans.

But Moscow will not be left without beekeeping products, the traditions of holding honey fairs will certainly be continued. It is planned to arrange them in the Kolomenskoye Museum-Reserve, where beekeeping products are already traded there until September 23. More than fifty varieties of honey are presented at this fair.

There is a free bus from the Kolomenskoye metro station, pensioners and veterans are given discounts on products. On the RNSP website you can always find information about the next fair. The next one will be held at Crocus Expo IEC from September 15 to October 9, honey weeks are planned for 2013 as well.
