Step 1

December 4, 2009 marks the 8th anniversary of the opening of the Lame Horse Club. In honor of this event, a grand party was held. According to the documentation, the institution was designed for 50 seats, but that evening there were about three hundred guests and employees inside. The fire started at about 23:00 Moscow time. According to official documents, the fire was caused by careless handling of pyrotechnic devices.

Step 2

The organizers of the party bought pyrotechnics with "cold fire", a combination of organic and inorganic ethers widely used in the manufacture of fireworks. Fireworks fired into the air and hit the low ceiling. Decorative elements immediately flashed on it: canvas and willow twigs.

Step 3

When Lame Horse first started working, residents of neighboring houses often complained about the noise. The administration of the institution decided to use polystyrene for finishing the club. However, this material, firstly, is not sound insulating, and secondly, it should not have been used (according to existing building codes). One of the reasons for the death of people was the smoke emitted during the combustion of foam, which belongs to the class of highly toxic and contains poisonous hydrocyanic acid.

Step 4

The staff of the establishment noticed the flame, the presenter asked the guests to leave the premises. At 23:08 about the fire in the club, the employees of the fire service, which was in a nearby building, were informed by the victims who got out before everyone else. At 11:10 pm, doctors learned about the incident. Soon the fire brigades stopped near the Lame Horse. According to rescuers, the fire was assigned the third difficulty grade (increased). Another 20 teams of rescuers and firefighters arrived to help eight working fire brigades. At the same time, people were evacuated.

Step 5

At 11:18 pm, ambulances began to drive up to the club building. The last brigade arrived at 0:35. In total, 57 teams worked at the scene: 2 emergency response teams and 55 ambulance teams.

Step 6

The Lame Horse's quarters were overcrowded. The evacuation was complicated by several other factors. First, there was too much furniture inside the club. Secondly, the second leaf of the main exit door was not opened during the mass movement of people. Thirdly, the emergency lighting did not turn on during the incident. Fourth, panic began. Fifth, only a few employees of the establishment knew about the presence of an emergency exit, and the visitors did not even know about it. Eyewitnesses claim that many of the victims were dragged out of the building and left on the cold asphalt (it was 16 degrees below zero on the street that night), there was a sorely lack of doctors.

Step 7

At about 3:00, the fire was completely extinguished, and the evacuation was completed. The total area of the fire, according to official documents, was 400 square meters. 111 people died from burns, injuries during the crush and poisoning by toxic smoke. Within a few days, 45 more residents of Perm died in hospitals. 78 people were injured, but survived, 64 of them were seriously injured.
