A small, funny, always slightly ridiculous, but very cute man, capable of making millions of viewers laugh and literally in a minute make them cry with tears of sympathy. This is exactly what Jamel Debbouz is, a French actor and comedian, producer and screenwriter working in the genres of comedy and melodrama.

Childhood trauma

Jamel Debbouz was born on June 18, 1975 in Paris, to a Moroccan family who moved to the suburb of Trapp. In addition to him, the family had five more children.

At the age of fourteen, namely in January 1990, Jamel and his peer Jean-Paul Admette were playing on the subway tracks. An accident happened to them, as a result of which Jean-Paul died, and Jamel severely injured his right hand. As a result, she stopped developing and practically atrophied. Now Debbouz cannot use it, and therefore his right sleeve is always tucked into his pocket. All scenes of films with his participation are filmed in medium and general shots. The actor himself jokes that his main and most successful role is "a guy with a hand in his pocket"

After the accident, the Admett couple blamed Jamel for the death of their son. But in court all charges against him were dropped - the evidence spoke in favor of his innocence. However, Jean-Paul's parents are still very aggressive against Debbouz. And when Jamel's concert was organized in 2004, they tried to disrupt it by organizing a protest.

Jamel Debbouz's career

After the accident, Jamel became unfit for physical labor. The young man also did not feel a special craving for science. But on the other hand, he remarkably knew how to make others laugh. And he hardly, but still got a job in the theater of improvisations. There, a talented guy was noticed by Alain Deguis, whom everyone called Grandpa in the acting environment. He brought Jamel to the fore in his troupe's performances.

At the very beginning of his career, Debbouz began acting in short films. But success in this field did not come to him immediately, and before that Jamel managed to work on radio and television. In 1995, the leaders of Radio Nova drew attention to him, and for several years Jamel went on the air every day. Then he smoothly switched to television and became the host of the program "Nowhere Elsewhere."

Real fame came to him with the films "Amelie", "Asterix and Obelix: Mission Cleopatra", "Angel-A".

Now Jamel Debbouz is incredibly in demand as an actor and is very much loved by the public. In 2004, it was he who carried the Olympic flame across Paris. There are already 27 films in his creative piggy bank. In addition, he was twice nominated for the Cesar Film Awards as Best Supporting Actor for the films Amelie and Asterix and Obelix: Mission Cleopatra. He is also the owner of the Cannes branch, having received a silver award in the nomination "Best Actor" for the film "Patriots".
