Sometimes gardeners get a plot with a slope. Sometimes a summer cottage is adjacent to a ravine, and there is a danger that the beds will gradually begin to slide down the slope. Others have a country house right on the edge of a ravine. In all these and similar cases, the slopes should be strengthened. There are several reliable ways to strengthen ravines.

It is necessary

  • - willow branches;
  • - grass seeds;
  • - tree seedlings;
  • - boards;
  • - pegs;
  • - reinforcing structures (geogrids, biomats, geonets, geotextiles, etc.);
  • - stones;
  • - logs;
  • - concrete blocks.

Instructions

Step 1

Determine the approximate size of the slope. With medium and small slopes (up to 6-8%), the slope can be strengthened with plants. In central Russia, a popular plant for strengthening slopes is willow (other names: willow, willow, willow, willow, willow). Cut willow branches 50-70 cm long, 1-2 cm in diameter and stick them crosswise along the slope in the manner of a low fence. If the soil is sufficiently moistened, the branches do not even need to be watered, they will soon grow and become a hedge. The root system of the willow is powerful, wide, winter-hardy, it probably will not allow the slope to spread further. To strengthen the slopes, trees such as aspen, oak, mountain ash, alder, larch are suitable.

Step 2

You can strengthen the gentle slope and herbs. Kirkazon, woodworm, timothy grass, creeping wheatgrass, awnless rump, etc. are considered suitable for these purposes. You can buy a ready-made mixture of "Road" lawn grasses in the store. and pick up herbs with vertical and horizontal rhizomes. So, one type of grasses with a developed root system (up to 2 meters deep) will strengthen the slope vertically, and another species, which has a rapid vegetative development, will firmly fix the surface of the slope horizontally. Together, intertwining, they will create an excellent strengthening of the entire ravine wall.

Step 3

You can use reinforcing structures. Such as geogrids, biomats, geonets, geotextiles, etc. Spread the geogrids made of plastic and rubber on the slope, fix with pegs and fill the cells with gravel or earth. You can sow the grass, its roots will further strengthen the soil. To reinforce steep slopes, you can use a geogrid - polyester or glass filaments. It has a high degree of rigidity, which allows it to withstand significant loads. The slope does not "creep" even after heavy rains.

Step 4

You can apply the slope terracing method. It consists in installing barriers every 1 meter of boards, which are fixed with pegs driven into the ground. You will get such a multi-step slope; at each such step, you can form beds if the slope is on your land plot.

Step 5

If plants, geogrids and terracing do not save and the slope continues to slide, settle, strengthen it with stones, logs, concrete and ceramic blocks dug into the ground.
