Writing a story in English is not a very difficult and time-consuming task, however, there are also things that you need to know about, especially for beginners. It is easy to write a laconic story "About Me", but the instruction will not hurt either.

Writing a story "About me". Structure

The structure of such a story will hardly differ from the structure of the corresponding story in Russian.

It should be based on the biography of the author - place of birth, date of birth, name. Of course, a lot depends on who such an essay is written for: if this is a school assignment, it is possible that you need to put more emphasis on things, such as interests, stories from life and other things, and if this is a story that needs to be attached to a resume, perhaps you need to talk more about your positive qualities, professional interests and experience.

It is also necessary to determine the nature of the story: if its purpose is to convey facts, then you need to write in a “dry” formal style, but if the purpose of the story is to impress the reader with a syllable and image, then you need to use metaphors and epithets.

So, for example, a formal story would begin:

"My name is Alex, I'm nineteen years old …"

"I was born in 1995 …" and so on …

And so, for example, a "story-plot" or "story-story" would begin, which should rivet the reader to itself:

"The tornado ripped through town. I could hear it whistling like a train as I hid in the bathroom with my brother and sister …"

"I learned that my grandmother had died the day after my first school play."

The difference is immediately visible, it will be noticeable to the reader as well.

What little things to pay attention to?

You need to remember the most important thing: the story "About Me" is not an essay or an essay-reasoning on the topic "The flourishing of socialism in the 40s", the story should be filled with personal details, emotions and, even if it is a formal story, it should not be full of stamps and templates.

In the story, there is no need to use introductory constructions, such as "In addition", "Therefore", "Consequently", "Second of all", etc.

Sentences should be meaningful, but they should not overload the reader: it is better to immediately remove complex phrases, complex sentences and any other sentences that even for the author seem not easily perceived.

In the end, you need to make sure that your story is divided into semantic paragraphs, and also pay at least minimal attention to punctuation.

It is not always easy to complete the story "About Me", because your life is still going on … Nevertheless, if the story was about a specific event or about a specific element of your personal life, you can end it with how the described event ended and what impression it made on you. Some end the story in the format of a “Personal Diary” with the phrase “And now I am writing a story about myself, and when I’m finished, I’ll go to hand it over to my teacher…”, and this is also an acceptable option.
