The question of when poplar fluff appears worries many people. And this is not at all due to the fact that they are enthralled by the spectacle, when at the beginning of summer, white blizzards of fluffy poplar seeds, similar to snow flakes, sweep the streets of cities. The interest of people is associated with allergies, from which many suffer, and which begins simultaneously with the appearance of fluff.

In fact, the allergy is caused not by the poplar fluff itself, but by the pollen of various plants flowering at the same time, of which it is the carrier. In different regions of Russia, the timing of the beginning of the flowering of poplar may be different. So, in southern cities - in Novorossiysk and Gelendzhik, poplar blooms at the end of May, in Moscow fluff appears on the streets by mid-June, in the Northern Urals - by early July.

Doctors note that residents of large cities suffer especially from allergies provoked by poplar down. Apparently, this is due to the large number of trees of this category growing on the streets of settlements. Poplars were actively used to create green spaces because of their rapid growth - within 10 years after planting, a full-fledged tree, giving shade, grows from the seedling. Poplar foliage serves as an excellent filter for urban air filled with harmful substances from exhaust gases. Poplar releases oxygen and absorbs carbon dioxide ten times more intensively than other trees.

Only recently did the utilities stop planting female trees, which are the source of downy attacks, now only “harmless” male plants are used for planting. However, under some circumstances, this tree is able to change sex, releasing green female-type inflorescences in the spring. To prevent flowering, poplar crowns are mercilessly pruned in early spring.

When the first signs of an allergic reaction appear, contact a medical specialist to find out which plant pollen, carried by poplar down, affects you - it irritates the mucous membranes, causes increased tearing and even conjunctivitis. The most reliable are scarification tests. You, of course, cannot completely get rid of seasonal allergies, but using preventive and protective methods, you can try to reduce the manifestation of its symptoms.

If you're looking forward to the poplar blossom season, dieting will help you survive. Eliminate celery, carrots and, oddly enough, oatmeal from your diet. Limit the consumption of carbohydrate-containing foods: baked goods, sugary drinks, especially carbonated ones. Try to spend less time on the streets, regularly do wet cleaning at home, gargle with purified sea water, which is sold in pharmacies, from your throat and nasopharynx.
