On July 12, 2012, the head of the Moscow Metro, Ivan Besedin, announced that a complete renewal of rolling stock would begin in 2013. Rolling stock "Rusich" and cars of the 760 series, which will be equipped with through passages, will start operating in the subway.

By 2016, there will be no old rolling stock in the Moscow metro. The improved characteristics of the new cars will allow citizens to get to their destination with the greatest comfort.

A head-to-tail walk-through will allow citizens to be distributed throughout the train. This will help avoid crowding. For example, a person who was in a great hurry and could only jump into the last carriage will be able to reach the very first carriage without hindrance and safely get off at the right place.

Currently, during rush hours, the subway is literally crowded with passengers who need to get to their destination. As a result, the carriages are filled unevenly. Some of the rolling stock cars are overcrowded, while some remain practically empty.

In the very near future, new technical requirements for rolling stock will be drawn up, where all technical characteristics will be changed. As soon as all developments are completed, the information will appear on the metro website and will be sent to global manufacturers of metro rolling stock for evaluation. Already in 2014 a tender will be announced and contracts for the supply of wagons will be concluded.

Besedin also added that in 2012 more than 300 new cars will be purchased. They will be used at new metro stations: Pyatnitskaya, Novokosino, Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya and Kalininskaya lines.

The innovation awaits foreign guests of the capital as well. In 2012, all signs at interchange stations will be duplicated in English. Mr. Besedin gave this information to ITAR-TASS.
