Typhoon Bolaven was gaining strength in the southern latitudes in the waters of the Pacific Ocean. He walked across southern Japan and the Korean Peninsula with wind speeds of up to 70 meters per second and wave heights of up to 10 meters. "Bolaven" also reached the territory of Primorye with a strong gale wind and downpour, which immediately raised the water level in the rivers.
Approximately 60 pieces of equipment and 150 specialists are trying to eliminate the devastating consequences of typhoon Bolaven in Primorye. From the very beginning of the cyclone, 71 power outages were noticed. Left without light: Barabash, Zanadvorovk, Yekaterinovk, Korsakovk, Sokolchi and Shmidtovk.
Accidents due to stormy winds also occurred in Vladivostok, where 110 kV overhead power lines were put out of action. Repair work is underway to restore partially destroyed areas.
Due to the cyclone "Bolaven" from August 28, JSC "DRSK" on the territory of its branches in the Jewish and Amur and Autonomous Regions, Khabarovsk and Primorsky Territories introduced a high alert mode. The typhoon reached Vladivostok on Wednesday night. The cyclone brought with it a whirlwind of strong wind, developing a speed of 30 m / s on the coast. The typhoon left Vladivostok only in the afternoon.
In South Korea, the aftermath of Typhoon Bolaven was more devastating. 12 people died and 10 are missing. The speed of the whirlwind reached about 144 kilometers per hour, because of such a strong wind, 60 international flights at the airports of this country were canceled.
In Jeollbuk-do province, Jeju Island and Gwangju city, a total of 200,000 homes were left without electricity. Moreover, many buildings were flooded and destroyed, traffic was closed on many roads in South Korea, and transport access to the Incheon Bridge had to be temporarily blocked.
In addition to negative consequences, there are unexpected joys - the tsunami brought vacationers in Lazurnaya Bay on the coast a lot of sea inhabitants: scallops, mussels and oysters. People collected these free delicacies in buckets and bags, taking advantage of the opportunity to arrange a "sushi bar" in the open air for free.
