Necessary

  • - gouache;
  • - watercolor;
  • - brushes;
  • - pure water.

Instructions

Step 1

The lilac color is created on the basis of purple by adding shades of different colors and tones to it. Basically, lilac is a desaturated, pale purple. Therefore, if you paint with watercolors, you can create a lilac color if you dilute purple with plenty of clean water. For a brighter lilac, use a thinner blue watercolor as well.

Step 2

Shades of lilac can also be created using purple gouache. Take a can of purple paint or create this color yourself by mixing red and blue. Dilute purple with white for a cool lilac color. Mix violet with light gray for a rich, metallic shade of lilac.

Step 3

If you want to paint a still life with delicate lilac flowers, you need to use a wider variety of colors. A warm soft lilac will be obtained by mixing pink and blue colors. Play with shades, using crimson instead of pink, or bright indigo instead of blue. If in some places of your work the resulting lilac is diluted with yellow, this will add brightness and mood to the summer still life.

Step 4

Try to create soft color transitions from flower to leaves by adding some pure green to the lilac.

Step 5

The more complex the color, the more picturesque the picture looks. If you already have color mixing skills, create lilac from a combination of shades. Prepare two colors on your palette: purple and pink. For purple, choose the proportion of red and blue, for pink - red and white (or gray if you want a darker, thicker lilac). If you like both colors obtained, mix them in a clean area of the palette, adding a little white. After that, apply the resulting lilac to the picture.
