Helium grade A and helium grade B are popular forms of gas, the unique properties of which allow them to be used in a variety of applications. They differ from each other in characteristics and scope.

Characteristic

Helium can be characterized as a monoatomic inert gas. It is very difficult to obtain a solid or liquid form of helium; therefore, most of its compounds exist in a gaseous form and are extremely unstable.

For example, there are two forms of helium: grade A and grade B. They differ from each other in the purity of the gas. We can say that A grade helium is the first grade, and B grade helium is the second. Helium of grade A is produced according to higher requirements, therefore the volume fraction of pure helium is 99.995%. In the case of brand B, this number is lower - 99.99%.

Gaseous helium of grade A contains impurities of nitrogen, hydrogen, oxygen, neon and argon 0, 005% and 0, 01%. Such a small amount can be removed from the helium, that is, it can be frozen on the working surface without affecting the technological processes, or removed by our own cleaning systems.

The same can be said about grade B, however, it should be borne in mind that the volume fraction of substances, for example, nitrogen, hydrocarbons and neon, is greater than in the case of grade A, which narrows the scope of such helium.

Application

The scope of application of grade A helium is much wider than that of grade B. Oxygen, which is contained in the air, does not make it possible to carry out chemical reactions with the required frequency. So that the substance you are looking for does not come into contact with air gases, it is important to create certain conditions, which helps to make it exactly grade A helium in cylinders. It is widely used as an inert medium in order to carry out welding work with refractory metals. In addition, this component can be environment-forming in organic synthesis. Helium can be used in medicine, as, in combination with oxygen, it relieves attacks in asthmatics.

Inert gas is almost insoluble in water, so it is used when working at depth. Helium grade A saves divers from decompression. It is also used in the food industry as an additional element of preservation, which helps products not to lose their original aroma and taste.

The scope of application of B grade helium is not so extensive. It is mainly used as a balloon filler. It is an auxiliary element of the decor, because it is able to transform any room and create a festive extravaganza in the open air. This form of helium allows you to decorate the celebration. Although helium grade A and helium grade B are different from each other, each has properties that can be used in different areas of daily life.
