The requirements for an emergency sign are established in GOST 24333, but the average person does not need to study it in detail, since most of the information is given rather for the manufacturers of this sign. However, there are a number of signs that a driver should pay attention to when choosing and buying one.

Instructions

Step 1

The warning triangle is an equilateral triangle with a red reflective stripe. According to GOST, the length of the sides of the triangle should be 50 cm (the error is not more than 50 mm). The width of the stripes that make up the triangle can be from 2.5 to 5 cm, but always uniform.

Step 2

Reflective elements should be made along the edge within the strip, allowing the sign to be seen in advance at night and in inclement weather. If there is a gap (not necessarily red) between the reflective strip and the edge of the sign, then its width should not exceed 5 mm. Along all three sides of the triangle adjacent to the reflective strip, the surface must be fluorescent. Again, the edge between the reflective strip and the fluorescent surface should not exceed 5 mm. The length of each side of the hollow triangle inside the sign must be 7 cm.

Step 3

The warning triangle must be stable. Therefore, all of its moving parts and support must not come off. According to GOST, manufacturers are even required to test the stability of the sign, installing it on an uneven surface and in a wind tunnel. Its water resistance and reflective properties are also tested.
