On the night of June 26, 2012, the mail of the famous blogger and opposition leader Alexei Navalny was hacked. On his Twitter account, the avatar changed, incriminating inscriptions began to appear, and all personal correspondence was published on the network. This is the second hacking of Navalny's mail, the first one occurred in January 2011.

On the same day, June 26, the well-known hacker Hell took responsibility for breaking into Navalny's mail. In his blog, he spoke in detail about the reasons for the hack, posted some details of the correspondence (even before it was published on the network). According to him, the reason for such actions was his personal hatred of the oppositionist and his ways of doing business.

Alexei Navalny himself accuses the Russian Investigative Committee of hacking the mail. Two weeks before the burglary, on June 11, a search was conducted in the oppositionist’s home and office, as a result of which investigators seized all computers, documents and notebooks. According to Navalny, it was with the help of this technique that passwords were obtained and mail was hacked.

Representatives of the Investigative Committee do not agree with the opinion of Alexei Navalny and accuse him of trying to discredit the investigation. The admission to computers of unauthorized persons and their unauthorized use are completely excluded, we are sure in the TFR. The computers have been examined and sealed, their activation and information viewing has not yet been carried out, the data will be examined only during a computer-technical forensic examination. The opinion of the investigative committee is also confirmed by a hacker with the nickname Hell - according to him, Navalny changed passwords within 20 minutes after the search, and this was stated by his press secretary Anna Veduta.

Nevertheless, the police launched an investigation and search for those who hacked Navalny's mail. It was found out that the hacker who got illegal access to the mail was in Germany. Investigators found out the IP address (unique number) of the computer, and it belongs to a provider located in Germany. Within the framework of the agreement on international legal cooperation, a request was sent to the law enforcement agencies of this country, but there is no answer yet. Also, a request to the United States, where the server of the electronic mail system is physically located, did not receive a response.
