Aluminum is a light and fairly ductile metal that has a matte silver color. In addition, it is quite fusible, which is why a huge number of alloys are created from it.

Instructions

Step 1

Aluminum is a chemical element of the third group of the periodic table of chemical elements. It has a fairly strong chemical activity and high plasticity. Aluminum is included in a huge number of minerals and rocks. Due to its plasticity, a huge number of alloys and grades have been created based on this metal.

Step 2

Each grade of aluminum has an unambiguous numerical or chemical designation, which have the symbol "designation of alloy". There are international and national standards according to which aluminum belongs to a separate series 1xxx (or 1000). The European standard EN755 is also applicable to it, according to which the metal is initially considered an alloy, and is designated as "aluminum alloy 1050A".

Step 3

In our country, at the moment, the standards of GOST 4784-97 "Aluminum and wrought aluminum alloys" are in force. According to these standards, the word "brand" is used only for aluminum, and aluminum alloys remain with this name.

Step 4

In the industry, various aluminum alloys are created every year, and each of them has its own GOSTs.

Thus, GOST 11069-2001 controls the production of primary aluminum in the form of a strip, ingots and liquid state. It designates the grade of aluminum by its percentage in the alloy. The purest is considered aluminum grade A999. It contains at least 99.999% metal. There are the following brands: A995, A99, A85, A8, A7, A6, A5 and A0.

Step 5

According to GOST 4784-97, primary and secondary aluminum are distinguished, which are characterized by the brands AD000, AD00, AD0, AD1 and AD. Secondary aluminum is often called technical because it contains a large amount of impurities. It is produced under the brands AD00E, AD0E, ADch, ADoch. By chemical activity, aluminum can be distinguished for deoxidation. It corresponds to brands such as AV86, AV86F, AV88, AV88F, AV91, AV91F, AV92, AV92F.

Step 6

In addition to simple aluminum, its alloys are often used. Such compounds are used exclusively at low or cryogenic temperatures. The main alloys are considered alloys of grades: 1100, 2014-T6, 2024, 2090, 2219, 3003, 5083. As a rule, they are distinguished by high strength and thermal resistance.

Some of the basic ones are wrought aluminum alloy and aluminum antifriction alloy. Accordingly, they have brands 1201, 1420, AD31, AD33, AD35 and AMST, AN-2, 5, AO20-1, AO9-2B.
