A timber is a building material up to 6 m long. During the construction of a house, it is often necessary to transport this cargo, which is so inconvenient to transport. But knowing the rules and methods of fastening and laying it, this can be done without problems.

Necessary

  • - a tractor with a trailer;
  • - workers for loading and unloading operations;
  • - permission for transportation.

Instructions

Step 1

The developer should be aware that the transportation of timber requires an official permit for its transportation. It is carried out by any kind of equipment suitable for this purpose (including railway cars, river and sea vessels), the most popular of which are long-length trucks.

Step 2

The timber intended for transportation must be laid in block-packages, the cross-section of which corresponds to a rectangular or trapezoidal shape. This requirement is due to GOST 19041-85 and GOST 16369-96.

Step 3

For transporting bulky timber, it is best to use a tractor with a trailer. Such cars are classified as special equipment and you can order their rental in companies specializing in this type of transportation. It is desirable that the loading and unloading operations be performed by employees of the same company. In this case, they are responsible for possible damage to the cargo. When concluding an agreement with the company from which you rent a car, you need to discuss in advance all the nuances of not only transportation, but also loading and unloading of lumber.

Step 4

There are rules for laying and fixing the timber. Each log is securely secured on both sides with fixing cables. This will prevent the lumber from shifting during turns. Loading is carried out by crane. To prevent damage to the wood during work, use soft slings. Unloading is done in the same way or manually. If the timber is transported over a long distance, it is covered with a tarpaulin.

Step 5

To store lumber, you need to prepare a site in advance. It is best to do this: level the area 10/10 m and fill it with rubble or gravel. It is highly desirable that the storage place for wood is on a hill: this will prevent its possible flooding during rains or melting snow. If this is not possible, it is recommended to take care of drainage in advance and dig out drainage ditches.

Step 6

For storage, the timber is laid on wooden blocks with a thickness of at least 30 cm. This will provide ventilation of the lower layer of the sawn timber and prevent it from rotting. Each row of beams should be placed on pads 10-15 cm high. There should be a gap of at least 5 mm between the logs. This will ensure natural ventilation of the lumber. For long-term storage, a waterproof canopy is mounted above the stacks. Dense polyethylene or tarpaulin is used as material.
