Replacing the blade in modern razors and knives is no longer a problem: they are either so cheap that it is not a pity to throw them away, or they are equipped with self-replacement functions. Only figure skate blades remain on the agenda, which should be replaced in strict accordance with the individual characteristics of the foot.

Instructions

Step 1

Take a pencil and mark the center points on the toe and heel of the skate boot. Do not rely on the front seam of the boot when marking, as it may be slightly offset to the side when the blade is factory-tightened.

Step 2

Slide the blade forward so that the outermost points of its front pad and sole line up. If the distance from heel to toe is longer than the blade, then the gap on the heel should not be more than 0.8-0.9 cm. Center the blade at the marking point on the heel. Insert a long screw into the heel.

Step 3

According to the pencil mark on the toe, place the front of the blade and slide it slightly (to the left for the right blade and to the right for the left). Please note that on the heel, the blade must remain centered. Insert a short screw into the oval hole. Check if the position of the blade is correct. Screw in the short screw if it is installed correctly.

Step 4

After you have screwed in this screw, re-check that the blade is positioned correctly and screw the last screw into the remaining hole in the heel.

Step 5

Inspect your skates carefully and check how tight the blades are. Perform the final adjustment step, offsetting the blades as needed, which can be done thanks to the oval holes.

Step 6

Carefully so as not to displace the blade, remove one of the screws, add a drop of epoxy glue to the hole. Insert the screw into the hole. Follow the same sequence for the rest of the screws.

Step 7

Drive the conical screws into the round holes. Leave the two holes in the sole of the skate unoccupied (one in the heel and one in the toe), as the blade may need to be replaced again later. The remaining holes should be diagonally located.
