This wonderful plant is spathiphyllum! It purifies the air, is completely unpretentious in care and pleases with its unusual leaves and flowers all year round. However, if you bought it in bloom, some time after the flower stalks left, you can notice only abundant succulent leaves and nothing else. How do you make it bloom again? There is a way.

Necessary

spathiphyllum, complex mineral fertilizer, soil, flower pot

Instructions

Step 1

Store-bought spathiphyllum is usually rich in color. This is due to the fact that when grown for sale, Dutch greenhouses abundantly fertilize plants with growth and flowering stimulants. The flower needs some time to recover from such a diet, so do not expect that you will receive new flower stalks soon after the first flowering. To make it easier for your spathiphyllum to cope with stress, some time after purchase it must be transplanted into a slightly larger pot with good fertilized soil.

Step 2

Never transplant spathiphyllum into a pot that is too large. The fact is that these plants begin to bloom only after they braid the entire soil with roots and fill the entire space with leaves. Do not think that the plant is cramped in the pot and that is why it does not bloom. Everything is exactly the opposite. The size of the transplant pot after purchase should be only 2 cm larger than the one in which it was brought from the store. When your spathiphyllum goes through the rehabilitation period and completely fills its new pot with roots and leaves, you can expect flowers from it.

Step 3

Spathiphyllum needs regular mineral fertilization. But again, you shouldn't fertilize it for the first three to four months after purchase. After the rehabilitation period has passed, you can lightly feed the plant with complex mineral fertilizer once a month. Do not get carried away with nitrogen fertilizers or organic fertilizers, as they stimulate foliage growth, forcing the plants to completely forget about flowering.
