The most common cause of a fire in a room is old household appliances or faulty wiring. At night, the voltage on the network increases, so the risk is much higher. Knowing certain rules of conduct in case of fire, you can save your life and the lives of people close to you.

Instructions

Step 1

If you smell a burning smell, immediately find the source of the ignition. Try to control yourself, do not panic and do not lose your composure, assess the situation soberly. If you see that you cannot handle the fire on your own, notify the fire department immediately. If the telephone does not work, knock on doors, walls and on batteries, call for help from neighbors.

Step 2

If you have a small margin of time and the opportunity to leave the burning room, close all doors in the apartment tightly (this way, you will not let the fire spread quickly) and collect all the essentials (money and documents). Don't forget about your pets, go outside.

Step 3

If only one room is on fire, close the door tightly and cover the cracks with moistened rags. Thus, you weaken the power of the fire and prevent the smoke from spreading through the apartment. If there is already a lot of smoke, get down on all fours, it is much easier to breathe below. Carbon monoxide is a companion of every fire and one breath is enough for a person to lose consciousness. If you experience a sore throat and watery eyes, cover your mouth and nose with a layered cotton cloth. It is advisable to moisten the outside of the material with cold water, so you will save the lungs and bronchi from irritating substances (try to leave the room immediately).

Step 4

If possible, dampen your clothes and wrap a wet towel over your head. If your clothes catch fire, in no case do not run, this will only aggravate the whole situation. Throw off all your belongings immediately, or lie down and roll on the floor to knock out the flames.

Step 5

Escape through a window or balcony if the path to the exit is cut off by fire. This will give you a better chance of being found by firefighters or rescuers. The door or window should be opened very carefully, at this time the flame will intensify behind you. As a last resort, jump onto a nearby tree or onto an adjacent balcony, it's better than burning yourself alive.

Step 6

If you managed to get through the veil of smoke into the entrance, but it is also smoky, start going down, holding on to the walls. Don't forget about rooftop escape options or use the fire escape located outside the building. Do not use the elevator service under any circumstances, its electronics may be faulty due to fire.
