An unsuccessful alteration of the receiver's radio path from the 65 - 74 MHz range to the 88 - 108 MHz range can significantly worsen its parameters. If you are not sure that you can remodel the device efficiently, use a special converter.

Instructions

Step 1

Decide which converter you need. If the receiver is domestic and is designed for the VHF-1 range (65 - 74 MHz), and the station you want to listen to broadcasts in the VHF-2 range (88 - 108 MHz), which is mistakenly called FM (in fact, frequency modulation is used in both bands), you need a CCIR-OIRT converter. If the situation is the opposite, which is more typical for imported receivers, purchase the OIRT-CCIR converter. Along with it, buy two AA batteries and a charger. The latter should provide a charge for a single battery, and not two cells at once - this is a prerequisite.

Step 2

Charge the first battery and then install it in the converter. Put the device itself on the antenna with both paws. It is designed in such a way that the legs are used not only to remove the input signal from the antenna and supply the output signal to it, but also to turn on the power (the antenna closes them together, which eliminates the need for a switch). While the converter is running, charge the second battery.

Step 3

Turn on the receiver and select the VHF band on it. Tune the unit to the desired station. Please note that if your city broadcasts in both bands, the stations will be mixed. If the receiver displays the frequency in digital form, please note that the frequencies of stations in the additional range (the one received with the converter) will be displayed incorrectly.

Step 4

After turning off the receiver, remove the converter from the antenna. When, with the use of the device, the battery is discharged, the stations in the additional range will be heard with a worse quality, and then they will not be received at all. Then install another pre-charged battery into the converter, and put the previous one on charge. In the future, as the discharge progresses, swap the batteries. Remember to unplug the charger and remove the battery after it is charged.
