But even if you do not have such a tool, it is quite possible to install the eyelets, for example, on cardboard or thick paper, using available tools.

Necessary

  • - pencil;
  • - ruler;
  • - stationery knife;
  • - a hammer;
  • - rubber mat;
  • - metal ruler or any other metal cloth;
  • - hole puncher.

Instructions

Step 1

Choose the matching eyelets. They can be made from various materials. As a rule, it is metal or plastic. Eyelets can have different shapes, colors and inner hole diameters. The choice depends primarily on what material and for what purpose you are going to install them.

Step 2

Mark up with a pencil and ruler. Mark the location of the grommet.

Step 3

Make a hole where the eyelet will be installed. If you intend to position it near the edge of the paper, you can use a hole punch to puncture the hole. Make sure that the diameter of the hole from the hole punch does not exceed the diameter of the eyelet head. If the size of the eyelet is very small, make a hole with a clerical knife, placing the sharp end in the center of the hole to be and turning it several times.

Step 4

Carefully place the grommet in the hole made so that its leg is on the wrong side and the cap is on the front.

Step 5

Find the right tool to flatten the foot of the eyelet. A thick nail, for example, can serve as such a tool. It should be noted that the thickness of the nail leg must be greater than the diameter of the eyelet leg.

Step 6

Place a metal sheet on the rubber mat. Take the paper with the eyelet inserted into it and place it on the canvas so that the foot of the eyelet is on top.

Step 7

Insert a nail into the foot of the eyelet, perpendicular to the surface of the paper. Tap the nail gently with a hammer. If the diameter of the nail leg is not much larger than the diameter of the eyelet and it is not possible to completely flatten the leg in this way, turn the nail over, place its head on the eyelet and complete the installation with a hammer.
