According to the Qur'an, every man who has spent a righteous life, going to heaven, finds there not only peace and pleasure, but also the endless love of beautiful virgins. These virgins are called houris.

Who are the gurias

There are two main views on who the Hurias are. In the early versions of the Koran, this was the name of the beautiful unearthly virgins who always lived in paradise and were intended solely to bring eternal bliss to the righteous men who fell after death in the afterlife. Their hugs are sweet, their speech is enjoyable, and their impeccable beauty has been pleasing to the eye for tens, hundreds and thousands of years, without getting bored with men.

However, in later versions of the Koran, a different view of the image of the heavenly virgins is reflected: according to it, together with righteous husbands, their spouses go to heaven, who are reunited with their beloved in the land of eternal bliss. At the same time, the wives of the righteous undergo a special "cleansing" after death in order to go to heaven with their husbands. Also, according to this point of view, a beautiful virgin who reveres men, but did not have time to know earthly love during her lifetime, can become a guria. However, in this case, women, becoming houris, are transformed and acquire a different, more delightful appearance in order to become a source of mystical and perfect pleasure and not remind men of earthly people.

What the Hurias look like

According to the Qur'an, the hurias are distinguished by such striking and perfect beauty that it is difficult for an earthly man to even imagine them. All paradise maidens have large black eyes, and this is especially emphasized. They have a graceful body and delicate skin. However, in oriental folklore, this image has undergone strong changes: the gurias are often described as creatures of amber, musk and saffron, with a wonderful scent and transparent skin. This further emphasizes the huge difference between these unearthly creatures and ordinary women.

All the gurias simply bathe in luxury. They wear a wide variety of adorable jewelry to enhance their beauty. Gurias rest on luxurious oriental carpets and wear expensive clothes. For them, special spacious tents made of precious materials have been erected in paradise. These creatures live in evergreen forests and gardens.

Although most often the houris are presented as the wives of the righteous, giving them a gentle embrace, there is another way of looking at their "life." According to him, the hurias are like beautiful pearls enclosed in a shell, and neither a man nor even a genie can touch them. This, however, does not prevent them from delighting with their beauty the eyes of men who went to heaven for a righteous life.
