The main stages of creating parquet

The creation of parquet consists of three stages - the choice of wood from which the parquet will be created, the processing of wood and the processing of the parquet board itself. The most common wood species for parquet is oak. Now it is a classic and safe option - it is durable, moisture resistant and has a beautiful pattern with a wide variety of brown shades. However, it should be noted that oak has a tendency to darken over time, therefore, oak is often purchased several tones lighter than necessary.

The second most popular is beech. It is hard, like an oak, however, it will take more care - high humidity and temperature changes can contribute to deformation. Beech is popular for its pleasant yellow color with a red tint. Maple parquet is slightly less durable. But its wood must be thoroughly dried. Its white color can turn yellow over time.

Ash parquet looks beautiful. It is very durable and sturdy. Ash is a little lighter than oak and from the sun's rays it has the effect of shine and radiance. However, this parquet will be more expensive due to the complex wood processing. Cherry parquet looks good. This coating is brown with a pink tint. However, it is much softer than other wood species.

When raising the issue of exotic woods, bamboo and merbau are worth noting. Due to the difficulty in manufacturing, bamboo is considered the most expensive parquet material. Merbau perfectly tolerates moisture and has a very beautiful pattern. This wood is difficult to process, but the parquet made from it has excellent durability and a large selection of shades.

After choosing the right wood, edged boards are created. Further, the moisture content of the wood is reduced as much as possible. For this, the boards must be dried. This is done so that the wood does not swell, crack and remain in its original form. The drying time depends on the type of wood and can be up to several months.

After drying, the boards must be sawn across, remove defects and cut into blanks of the required size. The desired geometric shape is created for each part, ridges and grooves are made. After that, the parquet parts undergo a grinding process to give the surface an absolute smoothness. The parquet is covered with several layers to create a pleasant look.

Layers add decorative effect to the parquet and increase moisture and wear resistance. Parquet trading houses receive a ready-made floor covering in the form of a set of ready-made sets. If it is artistic parquet, instructions are attached to it.
