According to Russian law, the buyer has the right to return or exchange even a good-quality product if it does not fit or does not like it. But at the same time, it is necessary to comply with a number of conditions for the legal registration of an exchange of purchase.

Step 1

Find out if you are eligible to exchange the purchased item. From the moment of its purchase, no more than 14 days should pass. Also, the product should not have any damage or signs of wear. Please note that there are products that cannot be returned at all with proper quality. These include books and periodicals, underwear, medicines, as well as complex technical devices for which a warranty card is issued. It will also not be possible to return back purchased animals, cosmetics, household chemicals, products made of precious metals, a car or motorcycle.

Step 2

Come to the store with a receipt, product and branded packaging for it. If you have not preserved the receipt, then you can exchange the goods without it, but in this case you will need to find a witness to the purchase. This applies to a situation where the store refuses to admit that you purchased the item there. Contact your seller and let them know you want to return your purchase. You can choose whether you want to get your money back or purchase some other product from the store's assortment in exchange. But keep in mind that the selected product should not exceed the value of the one you are returning, otherwise you will have to pay a surcharge.

Step 3

If the seller refuses to accept the goods back, contact the manager or the directorate of the store. It is likely that the management will be more loyal to you than the average employee.

Step 4

If the main persons in the store do not want to make an exchange or return money to you, contact the consumer protection service. There you will be consulted by a lawyer and, if necessary, will file a claim in court, which will help you achieve an exchange of goods.
