If you want your new shoes to fit you, sit well and not chafe, then when choosing and buying them, you should consider not only the size, but also the fullness of the leg. Unfortunately, the numbers and letters used by manufacturers to designate this parameter differ from country to country. Therefore, when buying shoes, you should also know where they were made. However, completeness is practically unchanged, which means that you will have to measure it very rarely.

Instructions

Step 1

The easiest way to measure leg fullness is to contact a professional shoemaker. He will measure the required parameters with a flexible millimeter tape and, according to the state standard that is still in force (it was written out in the Soviet Union), he will determine the completeness. There are special tables for this.

Step 2

Measuring devices should also be in serious shoe stores, so you can contact the store employees with this question.

Step 3

Many people do not rely on the manufacturer's numbers on the sole or insole of their shoes at all. To find out the fullness of your foot, you can do this: go to a shoe store with a wide range and try on shoes of the size you need, but of different completeness on your foot. Determine the one that suits you by feeling. And you can look at and remember the numbers or letters.

Step 4

If you want to take measurements yourself, then this is also not difficult. Take a piece of paper, stand on it and trace the foot with a pencil. It is better to do this in the evening, because at this time, the leg becomes a little larger (trampled). Leg fullness should be measured at its widest points at the toe.

Step 5

You can do it in another way: take a centimeter and measure the circumference of the leg with it at the widest point (shoemakers call it a bunch). After that, you can type in the Internet browser the words "Tables of GOST 3927-88" and use the found parameters to determine your completeness. In total, according to this GOST, 12 different completeness are accepted. For women, the smallest leg circumference is taken into account - 21 cm and the largest - 27.5.

Step 6

You can also calculate leg fullness using the following formula: W = 0.25 B - 0.15 C - A, where W is the weight you want to determine; B - leg circumference at the widest point; C - the length of your foot; A is a constant coefficient (17 - for men, 16 - for women; 16, 5 - for preschoolers and 13, 5 - for adolescents).

Step 7

Keep in mind that the figure that you get by looking at the table or calculating it using a formula is only suitable for domestically produced shoes. Other countries have adopted their own designations. So, in the English system, completeness is indicated by the letters A, B, C, D, E and F. But, in addition, you can also see intermediate completeness nearby - 2A, 3A, 4A, 5A and 6A (downward) and 2F, 3F, 4F, 5F, 6F (upward).

Step 8

In addition, British manufacturers can label shoes like this: F (normal fullness), G (wider foot), H (wide foot with wide bones), H ½ (very wide foot). Sometimes the completeness is not indicated at all. This means that the shoe is of normal fullness.

Step 9

According to the American scale of fullness, the designations are distinguished: B - narrow leg, D - standard leg, E - fuller leg, EE - wide foot.

Step 10

In Europe, there are also such letter numbering: WWW, WW, W, M, S, SS, SSS. And some shoe companies specialize in the production of products only of a certain completeness. Therefore, when buying shoes, you may already know if it will suit you in fullness.
