A battery is a source of energy for autonomous power supply of various devices. At the heart of any battery is the cathode-anode circuit, and between them there is an electrolyte. D-type batteries are in great demand in children's toys, radios, electronic scarers and watches.

The main types of batteries type D

Basically, batteries are chemical energy sources. But the processes that take place in them are irreversible. Do not confuse conventional batteries with rechargeable batteries. The latter can be recharged, and dead batteries must be disposed of. If you try to charge a standard battery in a special device, it will simply explode and ruin your charger.

There are different types of batteries - "Krona", "AA", "AAA", "C" and others. If we talk about "D" type batteries, they can be saline, zinc and alkaline. Salt batteries are inexpensive. True, they will not work at all for long. In addition, salt elements should never be forgotten in the device. Once fully discharged, they may leak.

Zinc-based batteries tolerate low temperatures much better than salt ones. Their price is an order of magnitude higher. And of course, the most popular and reliable batteries are alkaline or alkaline batteries. They boast a long shelf life and a fairly high charge capacity. Naturally, such batteries can be used in devices much longer than salt ones. For example, an electronic mole repeller can work no more than a month from four "D" type salt cells. And the alkaline ones in it will be enough for almost a whole year.

Characteristics of type D batteries

The main characteristic of such batteries is voltage. It is equal to 1.5 V. The weight of one element of this type is 143 grams. However, alkaline batteries weigh several grams more. If the weight can change, the diameter and height remain the same - 33, 2 and 61, 3 millimeters, regardless of the composition of the battery.

As for the current capacity, it depends on the type of batteries. For example, alkaline batteries have the highest capacity. Among the manufacturers, the highest quality alkaline cells are Duracell (18000 mA), Varta and Energizer (17000 mA). It turns out that the specified indicator also depends on the brand. Accordingly, the current capacity of the salt batteries will be much less. But their price is significantly lower than the cost of more powerful batteries.

In no case should you use saline and alkaline batteries in the same device. This will inevitably lead to a decrease in the current capacity and a gradual depressurization of the battery. Your device can break easily.
