With care and attention

These succulents are typical plants called dried flowers. Their flowers retain their decorative effect in a dried state for a record long time.

At first glance, cacti seem to be unpretentious in care and maintenance, however, this is an illusion. Like all plants, they love care, attention and comfort. The only bonus is that cacti are more compact in placement than, for example, phalaenopsis or ferns. On one window with a large window sill, you can, if desired, place a fairly large collection of plants, especially miniature ones. And they will delight you no less than blooming Saintpaulias or hyacinths. And most importantly, cacti all year round, even without flowers, will look decorative and picturesque, and during flowering and after the flowers have dried up - amazingly beautiful!

Composition of cactus-dried flowers

To create an original and stylish composition, you will need several cacti, preferably of various shapes and sizes. It is best to place them in a wide, but shallow, round, oval or rectangular container, which can be used as a planter, basket, ceramic or wooden bowl, a large metal cookie box, and even an unnecessary ceramic fruit bowl.

A polyethylene film is laid at the bottom of the container so that water does not leak, then a layer of expanded clay is poured. Cacti in the composition are best displayed in small plastic pots in which they grow, and not planted in common ground.

Leaving and flowering

Further care for such a composition consists in timely watering and providing the plants with a sufficient amount of light and heat. In the summer, it is recommended to keep a bowl of cacti in the fresh air for at least several hours a day. The maximum amount of light received in the summer contributes to the future flowering of cacti.

Cacti practically do not need feeding, since the supply of nutrients available in the soil is quite enough for them. If necessary, you can add one top dressing with microelements - in the spring, at the beginning of the growing season, when regular watering of the plants begins.

Cacti can bloom in February-March or April-May, depending on the species. And they will keep their flowers decorative until autumn. Before the winter dormant period, the flowers can be carefully removed and used to create an ikebana.
