Today, clothes made of synthetic fabric are often found in the wardrobe. But few people know that a few years ago all synthetic clothing was made exclusively from polyamide fibers.

Polyamide: what is this fabric and where is it used

Polyamide is a polymer obtained from the distillation of coal, oil and natural gas. Such fabrics known to everyone as nylon, nylon, Jordan or taslan are all polyamides. Moreover, polyamides are used not only in the production of clothing, but also in medicine, the automotive industry, the national economy, etc.

Polyamide is widely used as a material for making clothes due to its unique properties.

Polyamide properties

First of all, polyamide has high strength. It has been scientifically proven that one tenth of a millimeter thick polyamide thread can withstand a load of half a kilogram.

Also, this fabric is characterized by lightness, abrasion resistance and flexibility. In addition, polyamide has high dimensional stability of products made from it. Polyamide fibers are extremely thin and very pleasant to the touch.

Manufacturers of apparel, especially lingerie, love polyamide because it dyes easily and the paints are resistant to environmental influences.

Polyamide is very unpretentious and does not require special care, which cannot be said about clothes made from natural fabrics. But at the same time, clothes made of pure polyamide practically do not exist. Perhaps the only product that is 100% polyamide fibers is women's stockings.

In garment manufacturing, manufacturers mix polyamide yarns with other synthetics or natural fabrics in order to compensate for the excessive tendency to accumulate static electricity, as well as to improve the ability of the fabric to breathe.

Where is polyamide used

Due to its high strength, polyamide is most often used for the manufacture of clothing used in aggressive environments. For example, overalls for firefighters, oil workers, factory workers, etc.

Due to the fact that polyamide dries quickly, it is often used in the manufacture of thermal underwear.

Polyamide is especially loved by manufacturers of underwear, as it does not wrinkle, and clothes made from it are very elastic, which makes them comfortable to wear.

Polyamide fabric care

Polyamide can be machine washed in a gentle mode, but it must not be squeezed out in a centrifuge. When rinsing, do not add emollients to the water, otherwise the polyamide will lose its moisture-repellent properties. It is best to dry the fabric while it is still damp, without using a tumble dryer.

Polyamide is very afraid of high temperatures, so it is best to iron it without using steam and at the lowest iron heat.
